- from the end of October 70 until 10-9-1971 in Uganda at the Kalongo hospital with the founder Father Ambrosoli
- At the beginning of September 1971 he fell ill; of a violent viral hepatitis. After two months of bed he returned & ograve; in Italy to recover. He was convalescing for a few months. In the summer went to Niguarda Hospital in Milan to practice and wrote 'Memories of the Hospital'
- from 9-1972 to 9-1973 in Lisbon to study Portuguese and Tropical Medicine at the University of Lisbon.
